Once Upon a Time @ Comic-Con

Hey fairy-tale lovers! Check out these AWESOME promo posters for ABC's new fall show, Once Upon a Time! Produced by Lost's Damon Lindelof and starring House's Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, this freshman show is sure garnering lots of buzz. Bringing up the rear are other acclaimed actors such as Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White! Parallel universes and fairy tale characters...sounds like a winner a la Lost!

Afro-Samurai Goes to Big Screen

Afro-Samurai, the cult anime/manga is going Hollywood! This popular anime, currently being voiced by famous actor Samuel L. Jackson in its American adaptations will be going live-action! At Comic-Con, Indomnia Group in partnership with Jackson and Gonzo Studios, the Japanese studio behind Afro Samurai, announced that the anime would be ready for shooting in 2012 after wrapping up casting at the end of this year!

Afro-Samurai is a blend of Eastern and Western culture (as the title suggests) and features famous musical talent such as the Wu-Tang Clan. The movie version also won an Emmy in 2009, making it the first anime ever to win an Emmy.

Marvel Comics Prepares for Comic-Con

The two biggest Marvel Comics collaborations in its near future are Captain America: The First Avenger (set to air during Comic-Con) and The Avengers, which is filming now. Although Marvel stated that they won't have an official panel this year, they're still promoting the two movies in a major way.

MTV reports that Chris Evans, who's portraying the iconic Captain America, will get a classic military salute as a nod to his character's soldier status. Rumors are flying around that he will also sign autographs and be at screenings of the movie itself! Don't get too excited though, the screenings of the movie are mere rumors.

DC Comics Protestors at Comic-Con

Comic-Con is usually a time of celebration for most comics/graphic novel fans. With panels of illustrious comic writers and an explosion of movies based on our favorite superheroes, Comic-Con offers opportunities for us to rub shoulders with the very people who created these amazing worlds. Unless they threaten to destroy it altogether!

You may have heard that DC Comics recently announced that they will be rebooting much of its comics universe, including those of their most iconic names like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman! Decades of plots, characters, and retcons will be lost as the stories revert back to...issue #1!? As unfathomable as that sounds, DC will start from scratch this September and canon will cease to be canon...
