Good news about this year's Comic-Con just won't stop pouring in (not that we want it to.) It has been announced that "The Sidekick", an action-comedy short film about superheros being "repurposed" after their prime, will be premiering in full at the convention, on Thursday, July 18th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in the Indigo Ballroom of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
"The Sidekick" is packed with a number of names undoubtedly familiar for convention regulars, and a few will be present at its public unveiling, including Josh Meyers, Jordan Peele, Martin Starr, Richard Speight Jr., and cinematographer Steve Lubensky. More special guests will be announced soon. “The Sidekick” also stars Ron Livingston, Lizzy Caplan, Jason Ritter, Sam McMurray, Ike Barinholtz, Laura Silverman and Fred Stoller. You can check out the trailer here. SIDEnote (get it?) -- with all of these comedy alumni (notably Starr and Caplan from the cult-favorite Party Down), it would definitely be nice to see this gain traction and turn into a regular series or feature league film. These people know how to be funny on a regular basis.
